Household Appliance and Harvesting Equipment Program
The Household Appliance and Harvesting Equipment Program helps pay for the very high cost of household appliances and furniture as well as subsistence harvesting vehicles and equipment.
Household Appliances and Furniture
This component of the Program targets furniture and household appliances purchased by Nunavimmiut for their homes in Nunavik. Eligible items include refrigerators, kitchen stoves, beds, sewing machines, as well as kitchen tables and chairs. As of April 1, 2015, eligible applicants receive $350 per item up to a maximum of $1750 annually.

Harvesting Vehicles and Equipment
This component of the Program targets vehicles and equipment intended for hunting, fishing, trapping and gathering activities in Nunavik. Eligible items include snowmobiles, outboard motors, all-terrain vehicles, snowmobile trailers, locally built qajaqs, qamutiiks, boggans and ice augers. As of April 1, 2015, eligible applicants receive $1000 per major item. For locally built qajaqs, qamutiiks, boggans and ice augers, eligible applicants receive a rebate of 30% up to a maximum of $500. There is no annual cumulative maximum.
The cost to ship snowmobiles, outboard motors and all-terrain vehicles south for repairs is also subsidized up to a maximum value of $1000 for southbound transport and $1000 for northbound transport. Eligible applicants may claim one return shipment annually.

Proof of purchase (i.e. a receipt) from a recognized retailer or local hunter support program is required. To be eligible, applicants must be beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement.
