Country Food Community Support Program

The Country Food Community Support Program aims to increase the quantity of country food available in each community by reducing related purchase and transportation costs. Eligible expenses are 100% of country food transportation costs between Nunavik communities and 50% of country food purchase costs.

The financial assistance, which is paid to each northern village and, in Chisasibi, the Kigaluk Landholding Corporation, is calculated as a base amount of $10,000 plus an additional allocation according to the size of the local Inuit population. The measure is administered through the local hunter support program. Each municipality and the Kigaluk Landholding Corporation is required to adopt a resolution for the subsidy, sign a management contract, and submit reporting documentation to the KRG.
