Description: Based in Kuujjuaq, Quebec, the Communications Officer will work under the Communications Coordinator and in collaboration with the KRG’s departments). The Communications Officer assists with the development and timely delivery of a variety of communications initiatives that support the KRG public relations and messaging strategies. He/She will be responsible for producing a variety of reports, speeches and publications that provide information and promote the KRG and its activities. He/She will be responsible for building effective relationships and networks with other units as well as media and outlets.
He/She will report to the Communications Coordinator and will have the passion and capability to foster an environment that reflects the organization's vision and values.
Who Can Apply: Applicants should possess a Secondary V diploma; combination of education and relevant work experience would also be considered.
Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience in public relations. Experience in a cross-cultural environment with Northern communities would be considered an asset.
The successful candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills in Inuktitut and English; knowledge of French would be considered an asset. He/She must be able to work in collaboration with teammates and demonstrate ability to assist and support coworkers. He/She must be reliable and able to work independently as well as under pressure. He/She must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to maintain a high degree of discretion, confidentiality and be able to adapt to changing situations.
English is the working language although the ability to communicate effectively in Inuktitut or French would also be an asset.
In accordance with this and with the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement, conditions may vary to promote the employment of Inuit candidates.
Salary Range: Minimum $42,782 and maximum of $72,761 plus applicable benefits.
Location: Kuujjuaq, Quebec
Duration: Permanent position.
