Visitor Experience Officer in Training, Tursujuq National Park

Under the supervision of the Director, Tursujuq National Park and working in close collaboration with Visitor Experience Officer, the Park Visitor Experience Officer in training will be coached over a period of two years in order to be able to identify, develop, implement, evaluate and improve visitor experience opportunities at Tursujuq National Park.  As such, the incumbent will be working closely with the park staff and other staff of the Renewable Resources, Environment and Land Use Planning Department in order to provide activities, programs, services and facilities that foster public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of Tursujuq Nation Park. More specifically, the duties of the Park Visitor Experience Officer in training are:

•    Encourage, welcome and serve visitors to Tursujuq National Park ensuring high levels of visitor satisfaction by providing memorable opportunities to discover, learn and experience the Park’s outstanding natural, cultural and recreational values;
•    Participate in establishing and implementing collaborative arrangements with community and regional stakeholders, partners and business operators to develop and deliver heritage communication products, ecotourism opportunities, and environmental and outdoor education programming;
•    Assist the Visitor Experience Officer in establishing and delivering the Park’s services and activities opportunities;
•    Assist in scheduling visits, organize visitor activities and work in collaboration with the employees to ensure training and visitor safety needs are fully met;
•    Partake in monitoring, evaluating and reporting on visitor experience performance and apply the findings to enhance the programs and services offered;
•    Assist the Parks Marketing Agent in identifying and targeting specific markets and in designing, developing and delivering high quality visitor experiences;
•    Prepare reports and correspondence, as required, ensuring all documentation is accurate and verifiable;
•    Participate in coordinating and following-up on all aspects of operations in Tursujuq National Park;
•    Perform other related duties as required by the Director, Tursujuq National Park.


Required Qualifications:

•    The ideal candidate has completed post-secondary studies in a related field. However, relevant work experience will also be considered instead of required post-secondary studies;
•    Minimum two (2) years’ experience in parks operations or any relevant work experience;
•    Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship management and customer service;
•    Demonstrated resourcefulness and good organizational and planning skills,
•    Possess good working knowledge of common computer systems (Word, Excel, database, etc.);
•    Solid teamwork abilities;
•    Excellent communication skills both oral and written in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, French or English, trilingual is an asset.


Place of work



Min. $34 778 yearly – Max. $58 543 a year (Class 7)


Cost of living differential: minimum of $10 032per year;
Food allowance: minimum of $2 529 per year;
Annual leave trips: minimum of three (3);
SPP: 6% employer, 4% employee;
Group insurance;
Vacation: 20 days per year;
Statutory holidays: 19 days including 10 days over the Christmas holidays
