Prevention Officer - KRPF
TEMPORARY 1 YEAR FULL TIME POSITION

Working closely under the supervision of the Executive Captain of the KRPF, the Prevention Officer will be responsible for:
Support KRPF members in their mission to uphold peace, order and security on the territory under his jurisdiction. Prevents and represses crimes, infractions to federal and provincial laws and regulations, and municipal by laws; seeks out the perpetrators of those crimes and or infractions and brings them before justice while ensuring the respect of KRPF values;
Identify the concerns, the needs and the priorities of Nunavik residents in regards to their safety, and propose the necessary actions to fulfil those needs;
Maintain knowledge of law updates, KRPF policies and procedures and best practices in the field of prevention, disseminate information and incorporate changes into the crime prevention programs assuring for thoroughness and professionalism;
Collects, analyzes, prepares and disseminates information regarding crime prevention and crime statistics;
Maintain crime prevention files, an accurate and complete reporting system, and prepare annual reports of prevention programs;
Explore innovative and cost-effective training opportunities in regards to crime prevention with local, provincial, federal and private agencies and institutions;
Explore and pursue crime prevention grants and other funding opportunities;
Perform administrative work needed to coordinate crime protection activities;
Responds to requests from his immediate supervisor in an accurate, complete and timely manner;
Perform as a police officer during special events and in emergencies when required;
Perform other related duties, as required, by the Supervisor.
The selected candidate must:
• Possess a diploma from the École Nationale de Police du Québec or equivalent;
• Have a minimum of 18 months of experience as a Police Officer or equivalent;
• Be willing and available to travel frequently in Nunavik.
The chosen candidate must be willing to follow appropriate training as determined by the management of the Kativik Regional Police Force.

As per collective agreement.
