Kuujjuaq, Québec, March 16, 2016 – Further to recent amendments to the Regulation respecting the Hiring and Mobility of Employees in the Construction Industry, transition measures take effect today that will lead to the creation of a separate construction workforce placement region for Nunavik by June 2017. The transition measures will adapt the construction industry to northern realities.
Press Release: Team Nunavik-Québec represents region well at Arctic Winter Games
Kuujjuaq, Québec, March 15, 2016 – After dealing with multi-day weather delays, Team Nunavik-Québec worked hard to represent the region well during the Arctic Winter Games in Nuuk Greenland from March 6-11. The region’s small team of 57 athletes earned 21 ulus (6 gold, 9 silver, 6 bronze) largely in Arctic Sports and Dene Games. Its cultural contingent, Puvirnituq’s Qulliq Band, also earned large cheers for their performance of Nunavik Inuktitut songs, as well as a mix of throat singing and hip-hop beatboxing dubbed “throatboxing” by the youth.

Kangiqsualujjuaq, Québec, March 8, 2016 – The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), in partnership with the Kativik Regional Government (KRG) and the Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau (KMHB), is proud to announce the opening of the Qarmaapik Family House. This non-profit community organization provides community-support services for the community of Kangiqsualujjuaq. Its mission is to provide a resource for children in need of a safe place and offer counselling through various social and cultural activities for parents, families as well as the community.
Press Release: The 2016 Arctic Winter Games -Team Nunavik- Québec on the way to Greenland!
Kuujjuaq, Québec, March 4, 2016 – Fifty-seven athletes and six cultural performers have been selected for Team Nunavik-Quebec. The athletes will compete in six disciplines: Arctic Sports, Badminton, Cross-Country Skiing, Dene Games, Snowshoeing and Table Tennis. They will be supported by 13 coaches, 1 official and 8 mission staff members during the 2016 Arctic Winter Games (AWG) in Nuuk, Greenland.
