Press Release: International Snowmobile Safety Week

Kuujjuaq, Québec, January 19, 2015 – Nunavik’s prevention and awareness campaign for off-highway vehicle (OHV) safety, On the Right Path, wants Nunavimmiut to take note that January 17 to 25, 2015, is International Snowmobile Safety Week. OHV safety information broadcasts are planned on regional radio stations, and local health and by-law enforcement officials are being encouraged to organize local OHV safety activities. Listen and watch for what’s going on in your community. On the Right Path campaign stickers will also be available at municipal offices and schools.

Kuujjuaq, Québec, December 11, 2014 ─ The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) paid tribute today to the life, work and achievements of Ellashuk Pauyungie who passed away during the night of December 7, 2014. A beloved and inspiring person, Ellashuk is remembered by all as a role model who touched many lives, in her community and in the region. “Ellashuk, with a distinct voice, was a strong Inuk woman; everyone who knew her respected her. She was a humble, humorous, wise individual. Being able to adapt to the ever changing world we live in, she contributed in making Nunavimmiut understand the challenges we face in our lives. Ellashuk will forever be missed, declared Maggie Emudluk, Chairperson of the KRG.”
