Press Release: Improved Measures to Reduce the Cost of Living
Kuujjuaq, Québec, April 1, 2015 – The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) and the Makivik Corporation announce improvements to four regional cost-of-living programs to better target support for the region’s most disadvantaged and to foster healthy lifestyles which take into consideration Inuit traditional activities and culture.
Among the important improvements are a new 30% subsidy for clothing and footwear purchased from participating local stores under the Food and Other Essentials Program, as well as a new transportation subsidy for major harvesting equipment requiring repairs.
Press Release: Claiming the Solidarity Tax Credit on Your Next Income Tax Return!
Kuujjuaq, Québec, March 16, 2015 – The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) and the Makivik Corporation encourage Nunavimmiut to verify their eligibility for a wide range of tax benefits when filing their annual income tax return, including the solidarity tax credit.
“The Québec solidarity tax credit contains a component specific to residents of the fourteen communities of Nunavik and which benefits a large number of Nunavik households every year,” stated Makivik President Jobie Tukkiapik.
Sun Transit Period - Winter 2015
This is the time of the year where for a short period in the afternoon, the sun, the satellite and our satellite dish will be in a straight line for a few minutes. During this time, radio emission from solar radiation will cause enough interference with the signal from the satellite to interrupt the Internet service. This year, the sun transit period will begin on February 25 and finish on March 4. The interruption will begin at approximately 3:15 PM and finish at the latest at 3:28 PM.>
