Press Release: Weekends in the Parks Pilot Project: Come Spend the Summer with Us!

Kuujjuaq, Québec, May 5, 2015 – The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) and Nunavik Parks are inviting Nunavimmiut to participate in the Weekends in the Parks Pilot Project, taking place this summer in the region’s national parks! Nine affordable weekend packages are being offered at 500 $ or less, for trips to Parc national des Pingualuit, Parc national Kuururjuaq and Parc national Tursujuq.

The packages include transportation to the parks by air charter or boat, guides, lodging or camping and, in the case of Tursujuq, food as well.

Press Release: Team Nunavik–Québec: Athletes Looking to Excel at Coastal Trials!

Kuujjuaq, Québec, April 24, 2015 – After months of hard training and countless hours of practice, athletes from all over Nunavik will have an opportunity to compete at one of two Team Nunavik–Québec (TNQ) coastal trials. The trials are part of the TNQ selection process for the 2016 Arctic Winter Games that will be held in Nuuk, Greenland.

Kuujjuaq, Québec, April 15, 2015 ─ The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) paid tribute today to one of its senior and well respected elected representatives, Aisara Kenuajuak, who passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015. “Four decades ago, Aisara embarked on a journey of dedication and public service, working relentlessly for the welfare of all Nunavimmiut. Today, while we mourn the passing of Aisara, we are also very thankful for his legacy. Aisara with his knowledge and wisdom guided us to navigate through today’s challenges. He made us stronger, made us proud of who we are and of what we can achieve together,” declared KRG Chairperson Maggie Emudluk.

Press Release: On the Land, Think Safety First!

Kuujjuaq, Québec, April 14, 2015 – The Civil Security Section of the Kativik Regional Government (KRG), the Kativik Regional Police Force and its Cadet Program, and the Nunavik Hunting, Fishing and Trapping Association (NHFTA) jointly announce the launch of the Out on the Land seasonal prevention campaign. In April and May, listen to your local and regional FM radio stations for audio clips, interviews and testimonials regarding safety when travelling on the land and protocols to be followed in case of emergency.
