New KRG Council Holds Its First Sitting
Kuujjuaq, Québec, November 27, 2018 – One of the first orders of business of the new Council of the Kativik Regional Government (KRG) today was the selection of an Executive Committee.The appointees are:

Charlie Arngak Kangiqsujuaq
The five-member Executive Committee is appointed from and by the KRG Council to ensure its decisions are carried out and to manage the affairs of the KRG. The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson are required under the Act respecting Northern Villages and the Kativik Regional Government to devote all their time to the service of the organization.

Each of the 14 northern villages of the Kativik Region appoints a representative from among its municipal council to sit on the KRG Council. The chief of the Naskapi village of Kawawachikamach is ex officio a member of the Council.
The new KRG Council is holding a regular sitting this week in Kuujjuaq, from November 26 to 30. This is the first sitting of the new Council since region-wide municipal elections held in early November. Proceedings of all regular sittings of the KRG Council are broadcast live in all the communities on Taqramiut Nipingat Inc.
